Who can trade here

1.1.UgathSell is for students. Sign up with your own account and keep your university and campus up to date, so people can see they are buying from someone nearby.

1.2.One account per person. Do not sell on behalf of a shop or run a business from here.

1.3.You are responsible for what your account posts, even if a friend used it.

What you can sell

2.1.Things you own and can hand over: textbooks, notes, electronics, furniture, bikes, clothes, room bits and pieces.

2.2.Describe the real condition. Photograph the actual item — not a picture from a shop's website.

2.3.Price in ringgit, or mark it negotiable. The price on the listing is what you are asking.

What is not allowed

3.1.Anything illegal in Malaysia, and anything a campus forbids: drugs, alcohol, vapes, weapons, fireworks.

3.2.Medicine, supplements, contact lenses and anything else meant to be dispensed by a licensed seller.

3.3.Counterfeits, pirated media and software keys, and academic work sold as someone else's to hand in.

3.4.Live animals, stolen goods, and anything you cannot legally pass on.

3.5.Accounts, subscriptions and loans of any kind, including lending money between students.

3.6.Vouchers, gift cards and event tickets. They are too easy to fake, or to have been used already, and a buyer only finds out at the till or the door.

3.7.The same item posted over and over to sit at the top of the page.

Meeting and paying

4.1.Meet in a public spot on campus, in daylight. A library entrance or a café beats a car park or a room.

4.2.See the item before paying. For anything expensive, test it: switch it on, check the charger, check the pages.

4.3.Deposits before meeting are how most scams here start. If someone insists on a transfer first, walk away and report them.

4.4.UgathSell is not part of the transaction. There is no escrow, no refunds and no guarantee: the deal is between the two of you.

More on meeting up safely in the Safety tips.

Keeping your listings tidy

5.1.A listing runs for 60 days. When it expires you can renew it from My listings, which puts it back at the top.

5.2.Mark an item sold once it is gone, so nobody messages you about it.

5.3.Keep the conversation in Messages. It is where a moderator can see what was agreed if something goes wrong.

Reporting

6.1.Report a listing or a seller from the listing itself: scam or fraud, prohibited item, false information, or something else.

6.2.Attach screenshots if you have them. They help a moderator act quickly, and are deleted once the report is long closed.

6.3.You are told the outcome of every report you file, and whether action was taken.

6.4.Reporting someone out of spite, or reporting the same thing again and again, is itself against the rules.

Something already looks wrong? Tell us — or use the Report button on the listing itself, which attaches it for a moderator automatically.

When a moderator steps in

7.1.A listing that breaks these rules is removed. You are told which rule, and only you can still see the listing.

7.2.If you think a removal was wrong, ask for a review from My listings. A moderator looks again and replies.

7.3.Repeated or serious breaches suspend the account. While suspended you cannot post, message or report, and your listings are hidden.

7.4.A suspension can be appealed once, from the suspension screen. If it is lifted, your listings stay hidden until a moderator has checked them.
